Acne solutions are much sought after as acne is a common skin condition characterized by pimples (commonly referred to as “zits”), white heads and black heads; many engage in a form of acne treatment as a result.
Acne occurs when pores, tiny holes along the surface of the skin, become clogged and the surrounding area becomes inflamed. An acne treatment helps control breakouts, even with hormonal changes, cosmetics, drugs or environmental factors, such as humidity, which typically cause acne.
In addition to acne’s unsightly appearance, acne can also cause scarring, which if left untreated without any acne solutions, can become permanent.
Acne scars develop when the wound is trying to heal from the initial acne lesions. Acne scars generally leave an indentation in the skin in the form of a deep pit (often referred to as “ice pick” scars). However, angular scars, wave-like scars, keloids (raised thickened skin tissue) and discolored pigmentation can also occur.
The best way to prevent acne scars is to treat acne early with an acne solution and for as long as necessary. Common acne treatments include implementing a new skin care regimen that involves using skincare-products that are targeted to treat acne, such as Prouvé Acne Benzoyl Peroxide Gel 5%, Prouvé Acne Benzoyl Peroxide Wash 10%, Prouvé Acne Cleans Pads 5% and Prouvé Blemish Erase Stick with Concealer.
In severe acne cases, a dermatologist will recommend prescription medication as a form of acne treatment that may be taken orally or applied topically, to treat acne.
However, existing acne scars can also be treated. The most common acne treatment options include dermabrasion, subcision and chemical peels. Dermabrasion is the removal of the skin with a special instrument that allows the skin to heal with a smoother appearance. Subcision is the process where a surgical probe lifts the scar tissue away from the skin, thereby elevating a depressed scar. Last is chemical peeling, which involves applying chemicals to the skin that will force the skin to regenerate and improve the condition.
Other treatment for acne scars includes punch excision or replacement graft, which repairs the deep scars with sutures or soft tissue fillers, a method involving injecting collagen into the skin to lift the scars and occupy the indentation.
However, the best acne treatment and acne scarring treatment is always acne prevention. Remember to always clean your skin, particularly areas prone to acne, with a mild, non-drying soap twice a day, including after exercise. Also take care to avoid touching your face and acne-prone areas with your hands or fingers.
